bikehike This is my favourite because it offers both road and OS maps. No membership required. Download routes in GPX or TCX. Try the 'show elevation data' check box because in syncs nicely with the maps to show you where all the hills are!

RideWithGPS This has now become my #1 road mapping site. If you use a Garmin, it creates waypoints (automatically) at the junctions such that you get bleeps just before and at each turn
