Interested in joining the Verulam Cycling Club? You are welcome to come along and meet up with us at any time. See Your Cycling Week, Club Runs or Club Nights for details of activities. Someone will always be happy to talk to you about the club and you can then decide whether you want to register for membership.
Note that we have introduced a new policy to meet up and brief new applicants before riding with us on our Sunday Club Runs. Please contact Doug, Richard, or Paul if you would like to come along and we will arrange a time to meet with you to run through some important safety points, ride etiquette and will explain other facilities within the club.
Please do not just turn up on a Sunday morning because you will be sent away!
Note that you must have 3rd party liability insurance to ride with the club. Acceptable policies include British Cycling (BC - minimum of Bronze for required insurance), Cyclists Touring Club (CTC), British Triathlon Association (BTA) and League of Veterans Racing (LVRC - only applicable to over 40's)
You are entitled to ride with the club for up to one month before membership will be required.
The registration process is now available on-line from here. You will be presented with the following membership options:
- First Claim: £20 per year
- 2nd Claim: £15 per year (only available to riders with First Claim membership of another club)
- Associate: £5 per year (non-riding members only)
- Junior: Free (under 18s only)
After entering and confirming your details please be patient whilst your application is moderated - which includes verification that you have had a rider briefing (see above). Once moderated you will be presented with the following payment options:
PayPal (single payments)
Click on the PayPal button and you will be taken to the PayPal login screen. Simply login to your PayPal account and confirm the payment. You will then receive confirmation emails from both PayPal and the VCC website that your payment has been processed.
If you do not have a PayPal account you can create one very quickly at www.paypal.com using your credit card or personal bank account.
Credit Card
Credit card payments are supported by PayPal, though it is not very obvious on the screen. Click on the PayPal button (as above) and you will be taken to the PayPal login screen. You must then follow the link: “Don’t have a PayPal account? Use your credit card or bank account …”
PayPal recurring payment
With this option you will be taken to the PayPal login screen (as above for single payments). After logging into your PayPal account and confirming the payment, PayPal will automatically create an annual payment profile. You will then receive two confirmation emails from PayPal: One for the current payment and the other for the automatic payment profile.
This automatic payment profile can be cancelled at anytime via your PayPal account.
Pay off-line (cheque)
After selecting this option you will be presented with a printable payment slip and the address to send your payment. After confirming that you are paying off-line a “pending payment” entry will be placed in our off-line payments basket. Once your payment has been received & processed an email confirmation will be auto-generated accordingly.
